THERYN THE SHARD BEARER

Embodies Fragmentation

  • A being of broken glass wings, shimmering but sharp.

  • It gathers communities, then scatters them into isolated shards.

  • Wherever it walks, what was whole becomes divided: tribes splinter, movements fracture, friends speak in echoes rather than dialogue.

  • It whispers: “Your piece is the only piece that matters.”

The Origin of Theryn the Shard-Bearer

When the first village quarreled, when brothers broke the circle of firelight to sleep apart, a piece of silence cracked from the world.
From that crack crawled Theryn.

Its wings were once whole, but shattered as it grew, each shard catching a different light. It carries fragments of every truth, but never the whole.
When it flies, it does not soar, it scatters, breaking flocks into lone birds, lovers into single beds, communities into camps.

People sometimes mistake Theryn for beauty, for the shards flash like jewels.
But touch them, and you bleed.
And once cut, each insists it is the only piece that matters.

Theryn survives on fracture.

But it cannot kill the memory of wholeness and that memory is its undoing.
